About This Guide

Why we wrote this

Most business owners encounter trademark law for the first time only after a problem comes up — an objection they don't understand, a name they have to abandon, or a registration they assumed was permanent. This guide exists to close that gap before it costs you time or money.

It is written in plain language, organised the way a business owner actually thinks about the problem: what am I protecting, how do I check if my name is available, which class do I file under, what happens after I submit, and what could go wrong. Each chapter stands on its own, but read in order, the seven chapters take you from "I have a brand name" to "I know exactly what to file and what to watch for."

IPMitra is a digital platform and information portal assisting proprietors and businesses with trademark registration, search, classification, and renewal matters in India under the Trade Marks Act, 1999. This guide reflects that same informational approach — no sales pitch, no scare tactics, just the process explained clearly.
